NEW DELHI, India — August 25, 2026 — DataVare has released version 2.0 of its TGZ Converter, extending the Zimbra migration tool to macOS for the first time and adding a preview panel that lets users inspect archive contents before running a conversion. The update also introduces selective export controls and a reworked interface, changes the company says came directly out of support tickets filed over the past year.

Previously, technicians on Apple hardware had no native way to run the tool, often turning to virtual machines or a spare Windows device just to process a TGZ archive. Version 2.0 removes that step, giving Mac based IT teams the same batch conversion workflow, covering formats including PST, MBOX, EML, MSG, and PDF, that Windows users already had.

The preview panel shows the folder structure and message contents of a TGZ archive before conversion start so that users can check that they are working with the correct data. It works with the new selective export option, which allows a user to pull a single folder, a date range or specific messages, rather than converting an entire archive. This is a change aimed squarely at partial migrations, which previously required processing everything to get a few files.
In a statement, DataVare said that many of the support requests it received for the tool over the last twelve months concerned platform limitations and insufficient export granularity.

“Our support queue told us exactly where the tool was falling short, and Mac compatibility and selective export were at the top of that list for a long time,” said Smera Katoch, Co-Founder and Head of Development at DataVare. “Version 2.0 is here because we listened to that feedback, rather than guessing what to build next.”

The interface has been re-organized into fewer steps and the format selection, folder mapping and error log access are more clearly laid out than in the previous version. Other features that are already present and remain unchanged include batch conversion, the retention of folder hierarchy, date filtering and automatic error logging.
Current license holders can update through their existing account. DataVare TGZ Converter 2.0 is available for immediate download.
