The Audai Foundation held a one-day wellness retreat for 100 blind people in Sri Lanka. The objective of the charity fund behind this was to provide an environment

(CA, 28-July-2026):
Social barriers to the blind population involve much more than physical access barriers. Not participating in any wellness programs and psychological support might increase stress and a sense of isolation among such people. Knowing about those barriers, Audai Foundation has developed a retreat devoted to mindfulness and meditation techniques in order to relax and feel emotionally healthy.
“Different meditations and mindfulness sessions, which included such elements as tranquillity, concentration, and awareness, were offered to participants. All those exercises were adapted to the needs of every individual without paying attention to any vision-related constraints ", the company spokesperson said. In addition, throughout the whole day, people had chances for socializing and making new friends.
Uday Shakour showed how wellness programs can be used in order to enhance the mental state of a person and boost the level of one’s confidence and socialization. One of the main aspects of any wellness program is that equal opportunities should be given to all the people.
A Day of Care, Comfort, and Community Support
Aside from wellness and meditation activities, the comfort of all the people participating in the retreat was taken into account as well. The participants were offered healthy food and comfortable accommodations during the whole period of the retreat.
All the activities of the charity fund were conducted in such a way that they could be interesting for the participants. It helped them to create a good atmosphere.
These sorts of programs can come into existence because of constant participation of the community along with charity money, which helps in making those programs that strive towards improving the quality of life of the people. The contribution helps in making such programs which would enable many people to take part in the activities related to wellness.
“Everybody deserves to feel peace, dignity and emotional well-being regardless of whatever situation they might be in. This program is designed to help people relax, learn about mindfulness and get introduced to people who know their problems. We continue working on designing programs for communities,” commented a spokesperson for the charity.
Community Help Still Counts
The success of this retreat clearly shows that more significance is being attributed to community-based activities that promote inclusiveness and create positive emotional well-being. As the benefits of mental health programs continue gaining popularity, collaboration among different organizations can bring more positive results to people who are less privileged across the world and particularly in Sri Lanka.
All the money that is collected towards helping those in need becomes an essential part of making changes happen.
On behalf of the Uday Shakour Foundation, it is our pleasure to thank all the volunteers, donors, facilitators and participants who made the success of the event possible. Because of their diligence, the event turned out to be an ideal platform for rest and development for 100 people from the blind community.
