Author Ivory Rich announces her upcoming book, Sammy Against the Clock, a humorous yet heartfelt look at the everyday chaos parents face when juggling work, family, and the invisible weight of mental health challenges.
Part of a new series, the book peels back the curtain on what it’s really like to parent when life is far from “TV Family Perfect.” Whether raising kids with special needs, managing your own diagnosis, or trying to hold everything together as a single parent, Ivory Rich offers a story that says: you’re not crazy, you’re not alone, and yes—you’re doing better than you think.
Sammy Against the Clock follows a relatable protagonist whose rough day mirrors the struggles many parents hide behind forced smiles. The story tackles questions like, what happens when your child notices you’re not like other parents? Or how do you explain the invisible challenges of mental health? Or why do you keep laughing, even when the pressures pile up?
With a quirky voice, encouraging humor, and just the right dose of realism, this book is equal parts self-help, “I got you” pep talk, and comforting story for anyone who’s ever felt out of step with picture-perfect parenting.
Unlike traditional parenting guides, Sammy Against the Clock combines fiction, lived experience, and professional insight. Ivory Rich draws from decades of work with children, her graduate studies in Clinical Mental Health, and her own journey as a single mom raising three unique children—two with autism diagnoses and one navigating the challenges of a bipolar parent.
This blend makes the book uniquely valuable to parents of young kids or teens who feel stretched thin, single moms and dads balancing family, work, and self-care.
Even social workers and professionals seeking resources that resonate with families facing mental health struggles can also take help from this book.
When Sammy Has A Bad Day will be released soon.
